Anchorage Folk Festival - The best free event Alaska has to offer. Fun filled days of song and dance. Bear Paw Festival - Events of this festival include a 5K fun run, a teddy bear picnic, a renaissance fair, a car show, a pageant, a bicycle safety rodeo, a chili cook-off, a quilt show, a dog and owner look-a-like contest, carnival rides and games galore. Downtown Eagle River Alaska - Early in July. NYO Games Alaska - In the spirit of their ancestors, nearly 400 youth from across Alaska will assemble in Anchorage to demonstrate their skills in traditional Native games at the Native Youth Olympics. Events are based on games and life skills of past generations of Alaska Natives played as a way to test their hunting and survival skills, and to increase strength, endurance, agility, and the balance of mind and body.
