The Alamo - More than 2.5 million people a year visit the 4.2 acre complex known worldwide as "The Alamo." Most come to see the old mission where a small band of Texans held out for thirteen days against the Centralist army of General Antonio López de Santa Anna. Although the Alamo fell in the early morning hours of March 6, 1836, the death of the Alamo Defenders has come to symbolize courage and sacrifice for the cause of Liberty.

Dia de los Muertos - Translated literally as "the Day of the Dead," this Mexican cultural tradition is a celebration in which the family welcomes back departed loved ones. Creative and respectful altars are set up around town at galleries, cultural centers, cemeteries and restaurants to commemorate loved ones who have passed on. Poetry readings, and calavera processions (participants dress as skeletons) are typical events as well.

St Patrick's Day on the River Walk - Every year on St. Patrick's day, the San Antonio River is dyed green. The world famous Riverwalk, with its cascading waterfalls, pirouetting wildlife and illustrious fauna, is a source of hope and inspiration to millions of visitors every year.
