Camp Hancock State Historic Site - Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the State Historic Sites Registry, Camp Hancock State Historic Site preserves part of a military installation that was established as Camp Greeley in 1872, to provide protection for workers building the Northern Pacific Railroad.

Dakota Zoo - Come and hang out at the Best Outdoor Family Fun Place! The Zoo offers a variety of other fun things to do while visiting the 600+ animals that call Dakota Zoo their home.

Double Ditch Indian Village State Historic Site - Inhabited by the Mandan Indians for nearly 300 years (AD 1490 - 1785), Double Ditch Indian Village was a large earth-lodge village, consisting of dome-shaped houses of logs and earth; that is supposedly one of seven to nine villages that were occupied near the mouth of the Heart River.

Former Governors' Mansion State Historic Site - Located at 320 E. Ave. B in Bismarck, the site consists of a large two and one-half story, restored Victorian house and a carriage house. Constructed in 1884, it housed 21 chief executives between 1893 and 1960. Unique room exhibits feature the restoration process, architectural style changes, and furniture used by several governors.

Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park - Rich in both military and early Native American history, Fort Abraham Lincoln was once an important infantry and cavalry post. It was from this fort that Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer and the Seventh Cavalry rode out on their ill-fated expedition against the Sioux at the Little Big Horn.

Here, the culture and legacy that is the character of the Great American West will be saved for future generations.

North Dakota Heritage Center - The Museum of the State Historical Society of North Dakota collects, interprets, and preserves diverse items relating to North Dakota and her citizens. We research, write, and produce exhibits for the state museum, historic sites, and our traveling exhibit program. We are the oldest and largest museum in North Dakota.
