Ascarate Park - Ascarate Park is the largest public-use recreational park in El Paso County, at 448 total acres. Ascarate Golf Course sits on 280 acres, and 48 acres is Ascarate Lake water surface. The rest (152 acres) is dedicated to sports, picnicking and other recreational activities. El Paso Playhouse - The performers here are a community theater group that puts on mostly contemporary plays with the emphasis on comedies. A venue for artists, technicians, patrons, and community members to participate in the arts through regularly scheduled season productions, children's performances, holiday performances, theatre classes and post-show discussions with audiences. El Paso Pro Musica - El Paso Pro-Musica is devoted to making the art of chamber music available to our community by bringing world-renowned artists to delight and educate audiences. Home to frequent concerts rich with string instruments, day-time concerts, and film showings. El Paso Zoo - El Paso Zoo serves as a regional center for family fun, education, and conservation efforts for wildlife and natural resources. Currently the Zoo is home to over 220 species of animals including mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates from North and South America and Asia. The Zoo also has a carousel, as well as food and gift opportunities. Fray Garcia Monument - This 14-foot bronze sculpture, designed by John Houser, honors the priest who founded the area’s first mission. Come learn a little of history and have a great time too! |
Hueco Tanks State Historic Site - Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site, is located 32 miles northeast of El Paso. A unique legacy of lively and fantastic rock paintings greets the visitor at the tanks. From Archaic hunters and foragers of thousands of years ago to relatively recent Mescalero Apaches, Native Americans have drawn strange mythological designs and human and animal figures on the rocks of the area. International Museum of Art - The International Museum of Art is located in the Turney home in El Paso, Texas. The spacious Museum houses collections from Asia, Africa, and many points both near and far. Magoffin Home State Historic Site - A striking adobe structure, the Magoffin Home State Historic Site explores the stories of a multicultural family who influenced the development of the Southwest borderlands. The 1875 home is a prime example of Territorial style architecture and features a center courtyard and peaceful landscape. Explore the home’s authentic art and furnishings reflecting the daily lives of this prominent El Paso family. Tigua Indian Cultural Center - Enjoy Native American dances and guided tours at the cultural center. This center has five centuries of Pueblo history and tradition. Wet-N-Wild Waterworld - Wet ‘N' Wild Waterworld is unique in that we have over 200 mature shade trees providing more square feet of shade per customer than any other water park in the world. Wet ‘N’ Wild also allows our guests to bring in their own food and drink, reflecting the enormous popularity of outdoor barbecuing in the area. Wyler Aerial Tramway - The Wyler Aerial Tramway at Franklin Mountains State Park features an aerial cable car situated on rugged mountain and rock formations on the east side of the Franklin Mountains. On the smooth ride to the top, the cabin attendant will describe the different cacti and rock formations along the way. Abundant wildlife, including reptiles, birds and insects, offer exciting viewing opportunities. |
